It has passed 82years since our founderYaguchi Minoru started Hyogu (scroll mounting) as a business of KOETUAN at Kyoto.
Hyogu, the technique and the craft of mounting were introduced to Japan with Buddhism from ancient China. At that time, sutras and Buddhism paintings were decorated with mounts using Hyogu technique. By the change of times, architectural styles had changed and the style of Hyogu was also changed in adopting it. As the art of tea ceremony became popular, Hyogu developed into sophisticated decorations of general paintings or drawings using Japanese papers and textiles.
As well as mounting works, we had engaged in restorations of many historical Arts and Crafts. In 1987, we had successfully restored The Kinkaku of Rokuonji Temple into brilliant golden pavilion.
